The Health Initiative introduces as its June Real Woman Eileen Stone, a woman dedicated to her community in general and in particular the cause of breast cancer. In fact, Eileen's latest endeavor is a golf tournament to be held Saturday, June 13, 2009 to benefit the Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-day Walk.
But that is not the first time Eileen has put on a golf tournament. She is actually quite experienced in this area, having conducted golf fund raiser to benefit the Atlanta Feminist Women's Chorus for several years. Eileen reports she was an active member of the Atlanta Feminist Women's Chorus from 1992 until it closed its doors in 2007. The dissolution of the chorus was a blow to many. Eileen has helped to fill the void by singing along with seven other women in a group they wryly call the "No Fella Acappella." So far they have performed at two events, a St. Joseph's Hospital Christmas party, and a Georgia State Women's Studies function.
Eileen claims as family her partner of 10 years, Dianne Martin, a son who lives in Jacksonville, Florida, and a menagerie of two dogs and four cats.
