Health Fair a Success

Health Fair a Success

Thank you so much for helping us get the word out about our first Free LGBT Health Fair. It was a tremendous success - and we're already working on the next one!

On Saturday, Piedmont Hospital staff conducted 75 health screenings and 18 clinical breast exams. Dekalb County Board of Health staff processed 27 HIV tests - all were completely FREE to the participants. Our partnering Health Clinics, Family Health Enterprise, Center for Black Women's Wellness and Feminist Women's Health Center were on hand to share information about their programs and discuss on-going care. Women who had need connected with our Lesbian Health Fund to cover the cost of that follow up care. Charis Circle provided a full table of books that were challenging, supportive and relevant to all of our health needs and interests.

Thank you for sending folks our way. Keep an eye out - we'll keep you updated about the location and time of the next Fair. In the meantime, if you know of someone who has a health need, send them our way, and we'll make sure that they get connected to supportive and affordable care.
