Party for Your Parts, March 13

The Atlanta Femme Mafia and the Health Initiative are hosting a "Party for Your Parts" at My Sister's Room on Friday, March 13. Doors open at 9:00 p.m. The show starts at 11:00 p.m. Maria Rivers of Labrys Magazine will MC the event, featuring performances by Chase Stewart, Taisha, Ms. Stewart, and Trinity. DJ Duck spins after the show.

Cover Charge is $7.00, except for YOU! That's right, NYCU readers can get a special rate of $4.00 for themselves and one guest. All you have to do is email us by Thursday, March 12, 5:00 p.m. We must have the names of both people, since you will be checking in at the door to receive your discount. But there's more!

Party for Your Parts Raffle

At midnight, there will be a raffle ticket drawing for a Sweet Caribbean Cruise for Two. Sweet, the lesbian travel company with a twist, is offering a balcony stateroom for two on our Caribbean Cruise, Nov. 8-15, 2009, aboard the Norwegian Spirit .

The largest lesbian cruise ever will depart from New Orleans where we will pitch in with the post-Katrina relief effort by day and party on Bourbon Street by night. From New Orleans, we sail to gorgeous Costa Maya, Mexico, fabulous Belize City, Belize, scuba and snorkeling wonderland Roatan, Honduras, and stunning Cozumel, Mexico. For your entertainment, we're bringing Suzanne Westenhoefer, Erin Foley, Gloria Bigelow, Sandra Valls, Edie Carey and Jen Foster. We'll host off-the-hook Club Skirts (makers of the legendary Dinah Shore) tea dances, theme parties and events.

Spring Yard Sale

Some of our most loyal volunteers are having a yard sale on Saturday, March 14, in the warehouse space behind the Health Initiative.

Bring your dollars and your eye for a good deal. This is your opportunity for guilt-free shopping - great deals, good stuff, and all proceeds go directly to the Lesbian Health Fund.

Spring Fling Save the Date

Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 17, when Fourth Tuesday will host its annual Spring Fling affair with flair. 300 women will enjoy dancing, dining, and casino games at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tickets will be available soon, so stay tuned to NYCU for more details as we get them..

Special Volunteer Opportunity

The Health Initiative has a unique and important volunteer opportunity available. We are seeking someone to co-lead our semi-monthly cancer support group. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, from 7 to 8:30, in the Health Initiative's Candler Park offices. Interested volunteers would ideally have group facilitation experience and some familiarity with cancer. If you are interested, please contact Linda Ellis
