Community Mourns Angela Mason
People from all over our community are mourning the loss of 41 year old Angela Mason, who passed away Tuesday, January 26, of breast cancer. Known as “Tiny Dancer,” Angela was an award-winning country line dancer known to virtually everyone in the dance community. She was a French Teacher who loved all things French. She was a passionate NASCAR fan, attending as many events as she could.
She gave back to her community through the support of animal shelters, the Atlanta Lesbian Health Initiative, the Human Rights Campaign, Aid Atlanta, Project Open Hand, and the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation. It has been said of Angela that some people have a lot of friends—Angela had a village of people from all walks of life that will remain together because of her.
Angela’s family includes her father & stepmother, Ronald & Suzanne Mason of Marietta; mother, Bonnie Mason of Smyrna; brothers, Russell Mason of Hiram, David Mason of Temple; stepbrothers, Kevin Roberts of Atlanta & Kyle (Hollie) Roberts of Woodstock; and two nieces, Feather Mason & Julie Mason both of Hiram.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 11:00 A.M., January 30th, in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Keith Summerlin officiating. Interment will be in Crestlawn Cemetery.
Cleo Coleman, January Real Woman
The Health Initiative is pleased to present its January 2010 Real Woman, Cleo Coleman, who stays healthy through her passion for exercise and eating well.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Cleo got her Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Boston College. She worked for IBM for 28 years before the recession triggered a layoff that freed Cleo to pursue her dream of entering the fashion industry.
Cleo is particularly proud of the changes she has made in her lifestyle, changing her eating habits, developing her passion for exercise, and losing 20 pounds in the process.
