A.D. McNaghten, PhD, MHSA, joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an epidemiologist in 2000 and is the Clinical Outcomes Team Leader in the Behavioral and Clinical Surveillance Branch. She is the Project Officer for the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP), a nationally representative study of the clinical outcomes and HIV-related behaviors of HIV-infected patients in care. MMP monitors the impact of treatments, adherence to antiretroviral medications, utilization of and access to health care, risk behaviors, and quality of life among persons with HIV.

She was previously the CDC's Surveillance Officer for CDC-Zimbabwe and consulting Surveillance Officer for all other countries in the African region, providing technical and epidemiologic guidance in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS and related epidemiologic surveillance efforts. She has served as a Project Officer for studies monitoring disease progression, laboratory data, and prescription and impact of antiretroviral therapies and prophylactic medications among persons with HIV and AIDS receiving medical care in the United States.

Dr. McNaghten received her Ph.D. from Ohio University. She joined the Health Initiative board in June 2007. She resides in Atlanta with her fabulous feline, Eartha Katt.
