What we do
We have chapters in and around Atlanta and beyond. The chapters are lead by energetic and generous women who make sure that women in their area of the city stay connected and informed.
Single or in a relationship? New in town or just looking for something to do? Want to expand your professional network? Fourth Tuesday of Georgia has exciting year-round activities for you!
How we began
Fourth Tuesday began in 1982 when two businesswomen made a date for a lunch meeting. They had met at work and found common ground as lesbians. They agreed to have lunch on the fourth Tuesday of October with each bringing a friend. The four enjoyed the social networking so much that they set a second date for the following month. Six women met in November.
As the pattern continued, the group quickly grew too large for a luncheon. They began to meet for dinners in a North Highland Avenue restaurant. Individuals began to see positive results from the growing circles of women both socially and in business contacts. The group has expanded over the years to as many as 500 members. The Yahoo groups currently have over 1200 subscribers.
Fourth Tuesday was the 'mother' of two of Atlanta's best known organizations: The Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Lesbian Health Initiative. Both organizations began as projects of Fourth Tuesday of Georgia and, with the initial support of Fourth Tuesday, grew into separate organizations serving the Atlanta community.
Learn more about Fourth Tuesday of Georgia and become a part of this 25 year lesbian legacy. There are opportunities for you to learn from and to teach others through our online groups, through our monthly gatherings and through our connections with other organizations. We collaborate actively with the Atlanta Lesbian Health Initiative and we support the work of the Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Women's Outdoor Network, Georgia Equality and other local groups.
